Meet Our Leadership Team
Jan Spires CAM
Founding partner, CFO & president
Jan Spires is originally from a small farming community in the Texas Panhandle. She attended West Texas State University and Blinn College in College Station. Jan gained extensive knowledge of association accounting while working for a local CPA firm and handling the accounting for a well-established builder. She was responsible for the accounting, from startup to turnover, while working in conjunction with the management team.
Jan began her career as a Community Association Manager by heading the association management accounting department for two large CPA firms in Fort Myers, including Spires & Associates, P.A. Jan, alongside her husband, James W. Spires Jr., C.P.A., started the CPA firm, Spires & Associates, P.A. in 1991. They focused on homeowner associations and condominiums, performing all aspects of bookkeeping, audits, compilations, reviews and taxes. As a licensed community association manager, Jan kept her focus on the bookkeeping and management aspect of the business, eventually leading to the development of the management company, Tropical Isles Management Services, Inc.
Jan founded Tropical Isles in 2001 to focus solely on serving the niche needs of Florida’s growing number of homeowners and condominium associations. The firm grew rapidly as more associations relied on Jan’s expertise, knowledge and personalized customer service. She has worked closely with the Tropical Isles’ clients and staff during the firm’s 20-plus years. Although still involved with the clients and the management team, her main focus is on the financial responsibilities and human resources for the firm.
“We take great pride in the ability to have long term relationships with our clients,” said Jan. “To me, that says everything about the knowledge, service and professionalism Tropical Isles provides every single association.”
